This was so easy and so delicious! I doubled the amount of the mix so that I have it ready to go. I don't want to use box pudding because of the preservatives and chemicals, but it is more time consuming to make it from scratch. This is the PERFECT solution! Thank you Alton!!

liked it a lot. I feel the mix needs more sugar, so I did add 1/4 extra granulated sugar before cooking. I also used only 2 cups milk and 1 cup heavy cream, and never sieved it either, as it was perfectly creamy and smooth for my taste. Next time I make the mix I am going to add more powdered sugar to it, but other than that, the pudding recipe turns out perfectly.

Knocks the socks off the box stuff.
I have made it with Dutch Process and with regular cocoa and it works either way. Great results with 2% milk and no cream. If you cook it to a boil and keep whisking, you don't need a sieve. Make sure that you keep cooking it to have the corn starch do its magic. I don't mind the skin so I don't use plastic wrap.
Total kid pleaser.

Seriously good chocolate pudding. And so convenient that the mix recipe makes it ridiculously easy to make a second batch when the first one is lustily devoured!

I just made this pudding and am loving it. I will offer a word of caution that has to do with the ingredients versus Alton's recipe. Dry milk is something I keep on hand for disaster situations and rarely use. What I had on hand had been around for a while and had acquired an interesting aroma. My new box smells great. I inagine I will be using this product much quicker now that I have this recipe. There are so many uses beyond pudding for the instant mix. Cheers!

I will never buy a box pudding mix again, this is the first pudding that one can really taste cocolate! No strange chemicals either! I didn't cook on stove top, I cooked in microwave, stirring every 3 minutes with a whisk until really bubbling. No worry about scorching this way! Wonderful!

Folks, read the recipe before you complain about the "mix" part. Ever watch the show? He always makes his own mixes.

Read the recipe again. He gives the recipe for the mix, he's not telling you to go buy a box.
