I didn't initially care for these, but the next day they were quite good. Perfect texture for me, between cakey and fudgy. I used dark chocolate powder, making a very rich brownie. Added toasted hazelnuts to half, that was good.

    To "lescreath":

Not sure what you found confusing. The recipe clearly lists "soft butter, for greasing the pan" and "flour, for dusting the buttered pan" separately from "8 oz melted butter" and "1/2 cup sifted flour". And, after directing you to butter and flour the pan and beat the eggs and sugars, you're instructed to add all the "remaining ingredients," which would presumably include the melted butter and sifted flour.

I thought the recipe was rather simple to follow. Brownies were great.

I only gave 3 stars because the recipe itself is confusing...I didn't put flour or butter into the batter because the recipe says "butter for greasing the pan" and "flour for the pan." Nowhere else in the recipe does it say to add butter and flour to the batter. I had to go look up the video clip of this episode AFTER I made the brownies because I didn't know why mine came out so dry.
You're probably all thinking "what an idiot", but as someone who was looking for a brownie recipe and doesn't have cable, what was I supposed to think?! Please be precise in your recipes, please :-
I think the brownies will still be great with some vanilla ice cream, though.

@Mel2007 When a recipe states 1/2 cup sifted flour you sift the flour and then measure out a cup. If the recipe states 1/2 cup flour, sifted. You would measure out the flour and then sift it. Hope this helps.
