I used Callebaut cocoa powder in this and it is just outstanding. I'm making another batch now; I keep this on hand for ice cream and chocolate milk. Easy, easy, easy, just don't scorch it. Follow the recipe and you will never be able to bring yourself to buy the stuff they sell in stores ever again!

I had Hershey's Special Dark Cocoa powder so I ended up having to add a little more sugar. but still amazing. Going to make again with regular cocoa next time, but can tell you already, as easy as this is to make I'm done buying store syrup. Oh, and I didn't bother straining it. I had absolutley no lumps.

Easy to make, all natural ingredients, great syrup.
I use my immersion blender in the hot syrup on the stove to mix it better and guarantee no clumping of the dutch cocoa, which is otherwise hard to manage. The strainer is a must for the same reason.
This can be cooked a little longer and it gets thicker if you're looking for hot fudge thickness.

This stuff is so good it's probably illegal in several states. A half recipe makes plenty, and I'm sure the fact that I used really good cocoa (Scharffen Berger made a difference.
Darn you, Alton, I can never again run down to the megamart and pick up a bottle of chocolate syrup again.

This is really very good and very easy to make. My only criticism is that the instructions begin 'In a small pot...'
How can you fit everything in a small pot. I had a 1 1/2 qt pot and the sauce was in danger of flowing over boiling. Next time, I'll use a bigger pot.

This recipe makes excellent coca syrup for use in chocolate milk and drizzling over deserts. However in order to make it best I recommend watching the "Good Eats" episode it came from. That will make life much easier as you can add the ingredients at time for the best flavor
