I made the Good Eats creamed corn recipe last night, so I decided that cornbread was in order tonight. This came out awesome! This is definitely the best method for making cornbread, whether you use this particular recipe or not. Even from a mix, it'd taste better with crispy edges.

Thanks Alton for this recipe. I have been looking for a basic cornbread recipe that is, well, perfect. I think I found it!

    Alton,

My husband said that was the best cornbread I had ever made thank you for getting me away from Jeffy Brand. I did add honey to the top on my batter before I cooked it WOW was it great and today I re-fried it in some butter and my husband said that I better not ever serve him Jiffy cornbread again.

    Thanks,
    Christine
P.S. I hate BEETS but I would try one bite of Alton's. HA!
