Amazing! You are my go to man Alton. My previous recipe was from a Mexican cookbook and they were like eating crackers. Thankfully, I thought of you.

LOVE, LOVE, LOVE these tortillas!! So easy to make and so good. My husband and I made them for the first time a few weeks ago to go with chicken fajitas and then again last weekend to go with tacos. Definitely won't be buying pre-made tortillas from the store anymore.

I was looking for ingredients similar to what my mother-in-law used back in the day and this is it! The lard is what makes them SOOOOOO good. She didn't let them sit any longer than it took her to make all the balls. She would then just roll them out and put them on the camal and they would pretty much be gone that day! Just wish this recipe was for more than jusrt 8!!!

I was raised old school Mexican on making tortillas and could not believe that tortillas could be good without leavening. Boy was I wrong!! I hate to say it but these are better than my moms b/c they stay really soft even when cold.
The only change I made is the way we have always done it. All by hand, let the dough ball rest 30 minutes then make the individual balls then let them rest at least 20 minutes.
    Thank you thank you Alton!!

Alton you're a lifesaver! These tortillas are awesome! I make them for my family for the second time today & they came out perfect. A week ago I made them & I didn't weigh the flour. They still came out ok but not as good as this time so don't skip that step. I tripled the recipie & stored two batches of dough balls in an airtight container in the fridge so I can roll them out & use them later this week.

Ok, this weekend I've made 3 Alton Brown recipes: tortillas, yogurt cheese and Southern biscuits. All very excellent, of course! The tortillas are amazing. My daughter said they were the best thing I've ever made and I cook a lot. So, muy bueno, Alton! You are my favorite.

Living in San Antonio we have tortillas all around us as well as several friends that make them. I must say these came out perfect every time I've made them. So easy and much better than the store bought. Since there are just the two of us, I sometimes only use four of the rounds and I put the other four in the refrigerator in a sealed container. When ready to use I let set out at room temp for 1 hour before I use them, I then just roll and cook them like normal. My husband was impressed. Thank you Alton Brown

Used Crisco and worked perfectly. For someone who does no baking, was quite easy to work the dough, but I did end up making them a bit too thick. Total recipe made 4 vs. 8, so make sure you roll out really thin, as they expand when they hit the heat.
