This was easy to make and the best French toast I've ever had. Cannot believe I didn't learn how to correctly make French Toast till I was 60!

Baking the toast after browning solves the biggest problem with other methods, soggy middle. Very nice. Although you need dry bread for proper custard uptake, if you didn't plan ahead you still have an option: toast the bread on the lowest setting, drying it without browning it.

This is a very good and simple version of the family favorite. Take the time to follow the directions closely including the soaking time, and baking after grilling. We have tried it with both commercial bread and the recommenede stale French bread, both are good.

For us french toast is usually a spur of the moment kind of breakfast, this involves too much planning.
