Turned out absolutely perfect. French Toast for dummies. But I'll have to agree with the other reader... lots of dishes left over from this one. Whew!

Very good texture and flavor. This is the only way I will make French Toast from now on.

really all I'd ever had was mushy egg bread. This recipe is most excellent with Italian Rustic loaf, and drying overnight makes it even better. Now THIS is French Toast! Thanks again Alton.

I made it for my sister-in-law and her husband last weekend and everyone loved it! Served it with blueberries and strawberries along with maple syrup. I think putting the toast in the over on a rack is what does the trick!

This french toast was the best I've ever had...HONESTLY. I made it with stale cinnamon swirl bread and it turned out perfect: slightly crunchy with a soft center. We saved the three pieces we had left over, and plan to pop them in the toaster for another wonderful treat!

We saw the episode and had to try it. You do too!

Preparation is easy, it's done the night before. Soaking the stale bread is a good job for the kids and you can get a good production line going to get everyone involved.

We added powdered sugar and maple syrup at the table for a delicious breakfast.
