This is the best French Toast recipe ever. So easy yet tastes so elegant. The best part is that most of the ingredients I always have on hand. I did buy day old sour dough bread and it worked so well. I also added a little cinnamon and that was it. Thank you for another great recipe to add to my collection. Can't wait to serve this to my overnight guests.

I feel as though I've never had french toast before! It was perfect - creamy on the inside and a little crunchy on the outside. The best I've ever had. What a wonderful combination. Very flavorful. And so easy. Thanks Alton!!!

What can you say? Tasty and simple. This is something you can throw together in just a few minutes and consume in less! Great recipe.

Amazing! I followed Alton's instructions exactly and only altered the recipe by adding maple syrup instead of honey (when I went to grab the honey I realized I was out!. This resulted in some of the best french toast I've ever had... even rivaling my Nana's .... which is saying something! Thanks Alton!

Excellent! Used day old sour dough, added cinnamon and it turned out perfect. Quick, easy, no big mess, easy clean up and no complaints. Next time, I'm going to try it with cinnamon swirl bread from Great Harvest.

I have been making this since 2008. Never fails. Add some vanilla and cinnamon if you want but it is perfect as is. I use Brioche bread, which in my opinion is tastier than white.

This had excellent flavor but what I did wrong was use fresh country white bread, resulting in too soggy of french toast. It's all I had on hand at the time. Next time I will use a sturdier bread such as challah or french bread. I added cinnamon and some vanilla to the mixture and a splash of grand marnier. Even despite the semi soggy results, it was excellent!

Alton, Your French Toast Rocks! It has become our family's traditional Christmas morning breakfast. I use day old challah bread to make your toast then make Monte Cristo sandwiches with leftover Honey Baked Ham, raspberry preserves, and thinly sliced Emmental cheese. It is simply not Christmas without it. Thanks for bringing such joy and flavor to our holiday. Have a very Merry Christmas and a Happy & Healthy New Year to you and your family.
