It was so simple. Not too many "complicated ingredients" & yet it was wonderful!!! Highly Recommend!!

best meatloaf ever!!!! so glad my husband found this recipe, i thought the parchment paper method was weird but it's actually the best!!! i don't think it's that spicy so i would add more cayenne if you want it spicier. also i use italian breadcrumbs but i want to try the croutons next time and see if it makes a difference! everyone loves this recipe that i've served it to!

This is the first meatloaf I've ever happily eaten.
It's great when you use the crouton crumbs....but since I don't usually have those at home I just use plain breadcrumbs.
Since I've made it regularly, I also don't follow the directions exactly. I use ground elk or venison, ground pork, and ground turkey breast. And shred of finely dice whatever veggies I have in fridge (jalapenos, zucchini or yellow squash are regular additions.
The glaze for it is great (I've begun using it on hamburgers.
Great way to 'hide' veggies....my 4 year old loves this and would eat a whole loaf if I let him.
I usually make a double or even triple batch, and form loaves then freeze. (Or cook and freeze if I'm using this as a food gift

We love this meatloaf recipe; especially the glaze. But note - it is spicy, NOT your typical meatloaf and it does take over an hour to cook (not the 45 mins stated.
Alton - you're 'the bomb'!

This recipe was easy to follow although I did make a couple of adjustments. Instead of croutons, Iused italian flavor panko bread crumbs and I used ground turkey and chuck for less calories. I was surprised at how moist and flavorful this meatloaf was since i was using the turkey. Next time I could certainly substitute a good barbeque sauce for the one in the recipe. It turned out to be delicious and sure to be a regular recipe in my arsenal.

For years I have seen this recipe as one of the most requested. So I tried it for a family party. It was the worst meatloaf recipe I have ever tried. Told my daughter-in-law to take the leftovers and feed it to the dog. Stay with my own tried and true meatloaf.

I love this recipe so much that I used it to make meatballs....I made the meatballs very small and brown them in some olive oil, poured off excess fat then add the sauce, covered for a few until done....Yum!
