We have used this recipe to make our turkey the last three years in a row. It makes a juicy, flavorful, delicious turkey!

I didn't know if this was worth all the extra work? I have bagged turkey's in the past so much easier but the flavor of this was wonderful. Definately a do-over!

Ok, so I have a small family and just did a 5lb turkey breast. I scaled down the brine recipe and was able to fit the whole thing in the fridge when it marinated. My mom took a bite and said, "Wow, what did you DO?! It's so moist!" And it was. Delicious. No gravy or cranberries were needed. Totally tasty and delicious. Very much worth the small amount of effort. Thanks, Alton!

This is the second year I have used this recipe and must say it's the best. I did have a bit of trouble with the smoke but plan to add a little h2o the pan next time and see if that helps. Bird has about an hour to go but is looking fabulous! Thanks Alton...

Fantastic recipe if you have the time. Luckily I did. Only reason it did not get five stars is that it could have been more specific in instructions and ingredients. For example, how to cut up the apples, and to peel or not. Thanks Alton for a great thanksgiving turkey!

I tried this the first time I saw it 4 years ago. I've done it ever since and my bird is always perfect! I usually cook a large 24 lbs. bird. I never knew you could sear in the juices of poultry like a steak! Your bird will be brown and juicy every time. Everyone asks me how I cooked it, they can't believe how juicy it is and it looks like a picture! Thanks Alton.
