I admit it, I am the World's Worst Cook. I am so bad, when I suggested hosting our family Thanksgiving last year, my stepfather declined the invitation due to the risk of starvation. Well, when my mom tasted the turkey, she insisted I make a platter for her to take home to my dad. This year, he invited us to their house for Thanksgiving dinner - but asked that I bring the turkey :- What a delicious bird!

I also use this brining technique on chicken and game hens, and I also never stuff the birds. Now my poultry is moist and juicy, bursting with flavor. (Note: add a little water to the pan when you cook at 500 degrees just so you don't set off the smoke alarm when drippings hit the very hot pan.

i hesitated before i tried this recipe..it was the first time i was trusted w/ the sacred chore of cooking the turkey in my house. everyone looked at me like i was crazy when i brined the bird to when i blasted it at 500 degrees. in the end i got a beautiful, juicy, and flavorful turkey that everyone loved.. i was especially surprised at how simple it was. elton brown made following the recipe on his show easy and entertaining. thank you so much!

First, let me say that I LOVE to cook and have been successfully making turkey for many years. About 3 years ago I saw Alton's show on brining the turkey, tried it, and have been using this recipe ever since. My family and friends agree it is the best, juiciest, and most flavorful bird they have ever tasted. Try it....you'll love it!!!

I nenver thought of using a brine, for a turkey, till now, and I have to say that I was more then excited over this new venture in Turkey cooking. I was happy to see how moist the white meat was, and how much juicy was actually locke din the turkey. I have recommended this to the rest of my family, and I hope that I can change just a little bit of Family Tradition, for....GOOD EATS.

I used Alton's recipe on my first Thanksgiving in the kitchen. It not only got me TONS of compliments, got me some big respect for my cooking. I did the whole dinner except for one side and one store-bought pie. All the food was praised except for those two dishes that I did not contribute! I beamed for days....
Happy Turkey Day, people!

This Thanksgiving will the 3rd year that we will use this recipe. It's moist, tasty and the whole family loves it. We've haven't really needed to make any changes to the recipe. I was afraid that it would be too salty, but it's not; it's perfect!

We made this turkey last Thanksgiving and it was a smash hit. My father, who is as purist as they come, was really skeptical about preparing a turkey this way. I talked him into trying it. We all ate until we were miserable. We're doing it again this year!!! WOW.
