Well Alton, once again tour cooking method(500* 1/2 hour produced the most juicy and tender bird, with perfectly golden skin. I also make a deep fried Turkey which usually gets eaten first. But this year the oven rosted bird beat out the fried bird.
    Thankyou

Only make this recipe if you want your friends and family praise you continuously and talk for hours about how it is the best turkey they've ever had. You will probably be volunteered to make the turkey for all Thanksgivings and Christmases. With great turkey comes great responsibility. This recipe is AMAZING. I was a first time turkey maker and with the detailed recipe and videos, I made the best bird anyone had ever eaten. I would also recommend Alton's "best gravy ever", which merits the name.

For the brine, I bought a 5 gallon bucket w/ lid from Home Depot as well as a brick. I washed up both, and wrapped the brick in foil. When we put the bird in the brine I put the brick on top of her so that she did not float. The brine adds so much flavor, as well as Alton's aromatics.

You cannot go wrong with this recipe!

I used this recipe for Thanksgiving Dinner this year and I'm making it again today for our Christmas dinner. This is the best Turkey I have ever made...THANK YOU Alton.
    So moist and VERY flavorful.
I get a 14-15lb Turkey and brine for about 12-13 hours.
My family just thought it was wonderful and it made for great left overs and the most
    delish Turkey Soup.
I will be making this every year....DELISH.

Please try this recipe! You can do it. My Turkey was picture perfect. Golden Brown. Please Brine. It's sooo easy. I didn't go buy a bucket. Get one if you have time. I bought a 14lb turkey. I brined it inside my fridge in my crisper drawer at the bottom of my fridge. My Turkey was Juicy & Full of FLAVOR. I used Kosher Salt, a can of chicken broth, allspice, black pepper & brown sugar for the Brine. I put celery garlic, onions, sage & orange peels inside my turkey. I rubbed canola oil all over after I seasoned it with poultry seasoning, sage, pepper, onion powder & seasoned salt. Most IMPORTANT is the FOIL triangle over the turkey breast and the 500 degrees for 30 minutes/350 degrees for 2 & 1/2 hrs. I bought a roasting rack for my turkey at a discount store for $3. My Turkey sat up on the rack. Not down inside the pan. I did put some water in the pan to keep the oven from smoking too much. I usually smoke my turkey. I think I'll brine & then smoke it next time. NO More Oven Bags!

I'm a vegetarian and I've never had turkey, however my daughters, husband and the rest of my family does eat meat. You wouldn't believe I was a vegetarian after eating this turkey. My husband and family says it's so flavorful and juicy. This is my 3rd time making it. I made it for Thanksgiving last year and this year and for Christmas this year. I forgot to make my brine last night and I fell asleep so I got up super early and made the brine and set it out on my patio upstairs. Even if you don't brine for the full 7-8 hours it's still flavorful. I used a 12 lb turkey this time around. It's the best and so easy. Thanks Alton!

BEST TURKEY EVER!!! It was so tender it almost didn't even taste like turkey, like a super moist chicken. Everyone at the table had amazing things to say about this turkey. Leftovers were still great!

I used this recipe and a Lowe's bucket to make the tastiest, juiciest Thanksgiving turkey I have ever roasted. I put the bucket outside in the cold night air with a weighted-down cutting board as a lid....about 12 hours of brining. Followed Alton's roasting directions, and we we very pleasantly surprised with the results. Planning to make it for Christmas to serve alongside the Ham.
