This was soooooooo easy, not to mention DELICIOUS. I will never buy processed bars from the supermarket EVER again, even from Wholefood, they all taste like cardboard. My husband who is not the most health concious eater absolutely loved them, even more than I do.
Alton Brown's programs and recipes are the best!

This recipe is quick and easy to make. The kids (ages 6 and 3 loved helping and it didn't make a big mess. We made two set of bars: one with dried fruit and one with dark chocolate chips.

My boyfriend and I made these granola bars and they turned out great! We let them cool for about an hour and they began to crumble as we cut into them, so we let it cool for a while longer and they stayed together much better. We took some to work and all of out co-workers liked them. We used the cherry-flavored cranberries and added chopped walnuts as well.

8 ounces is not 2 cups - how much rolled oats is called for? I used two cups and its in the oven now so here's hoping

Really good the 1st couple of days but then they get really hard, almost difficult to chew after that even if kept in an air tight container. Overall though, I liked them.

For those of you having trouble w/crumbling, let them cool completely first - These were great!
