Very easy. You could use any fruit you like. I used currents and dates. Great for snacking on the go!

Great recipe. I always believe in reading the reviews before trying a new one, and never try a recipe with out a review!

    When I made them....

I used vegan margarine instead of butter.
I used the cup measurements, instead of weight.
I added 2 tlb of peanut butter to the liquid and took out the salt.
After toasting, I used the food processor and pulsed 5 times.
I combined my crasins and nuts together before I mixed with the liquid.
I poured the liquid onto the dry.
I liked the idea of the muffin pan earlier and devided it up into 12. Used a pan spray instead of butter
I used the bottom of a plastic cup with a little pan spray and pounded them in.
    NO CUT NO CRUMBLE

Other than that followed the recipe exactly!

    LOVE THEM!

The bars were way to sweet. To me a granola bar should be barely sweet. This was more like a dessert than a nice healthy snack.

These are awesome! My only complaint is that they're a little too crispy, but that could be a user problem on my end.

My family loves these granola bars! After making the the recipe as directed (& loving it, I played around by substituting 1/2 of the sunflower seeds w pumpkin seeds & 1/2 the almonds w pistachios. I also < the baking time by 15min for a chewier texture. **Does anyone remember what Alton said about baking with flax seed??**

I've just finished reading the other reviews of this recipe and noticed that several people must not have watched the show carefully. YES, ALTON DOES USE SUNFLOWER SEEDS THAT ARE STILL IN THE SHELL! I believe he said they have more fiber and crunch. I will personally use shelled sunflower seeds but the people who used shelled seeds are not crazy (or stupid!

These are very good but need a bit more honey and I doubled the amount of fruits. Much better then store brands which are like chewing on rocks.
