I've been substituting different types of nuts and seeds -- try adding a couple of tablespoons of sesame seeds for a real peanut-y flavor.

This granola is really, really delicious and it has a way of making you want to eat more of it. It's simple and unassuming, but it is just so delicious that it never gets old. I used cranberries and cherries in mine and a few raisins. I also used melted butter instead of oil after reading another review that suggested this might make the granola last longer. I keep mine in a ziplock bag and it has stayed fresh and crunchy for a week now. We gave this as a Christmas gift to my daughter's kindergarten teacher and she couldn't stop eating it! I will say that you should check the mixture at 45 minutes to see how far along it is. My oven runs hot so the first batch I made I cooked for 1 1/4 hours and it had a slight burned flavor even though the color was fine. The next batch I cooked for 50 minutes and that was perfect! I'm giving bags of it as Christmas gifts and will make more for myself. VERY, VERY good and easy to make! Thanks, Alton!!!!

Best granola ever, you will find yourself eating it over other unhealthy snacks. Add some corn syrup late in cooking for a clumpy granola.

I LOVE THIS RECIPE!!! It is sooo easy to make and my family loves it. I make either a double or triple batch and within about 3 days it's gone. I also like to substitute ingredients- pecans for almonds, dates for raisins. Thank you Alton for keeping my family happy and healthy.

This was simple, with ingredients that you can find in your local supermarket. Everyone that tasted it couldn't stop eating it!

Very tasty and easy to do. I had to substitute honey for the maple syrup, but it worked perfectly.

Why buy granola when it's this easy to make? I had all of the ingredients already on hand and didn't need to buy a thing. I love that! I made the recipe verbatim except I omitted the raisins -- I love raisins but just wasn't in the mood for a chewy component to the otherwise crunchy goodness. No big deal, raisins can always be put in ad hoc. Soooo good with a bowl of lightly honeyed plain (whole milk yogurt. My wife is allergic to almonds and has instructed me to make it with peanuts next time. Personally, I think that's heresy, but I'm not about to put up a fight. Anything to get something remotely healthy in her.
