Alton was spot on when he said this was easy and cheap. Just added raisins, and wow, is this stuff good! Changed the way I now look at "granola".

In this recipe & the other 2:
if U add apples: try cinnamon, nutmeg, clove combo.

Sunflower &/or pumpkin seeds work well, too; esp. in combin w/nuts.

Wheat germ, toasted for xtra 'power'
    boost!

Try some pure extracts: vanilla, almond, etc for flavoring

Orange zest is quite delicious in it,too!

Made this for the first time today. Had this in my recipe box for a couple of months. Great taste and perfect granola texture. Have never been crazy about coconut, but it must have melted right into the mix because thers is no coconut taste. Cannot wait to try it with other nuts, fruits etc.

This was the best granola I have ever had, not a real surprise since it was made at home. You can put it on ice cream, yogurt, oatmeal (yeah, it's oatmeal too, it's good for you, or just add milk. I just ate it straight, and the dog loved it. One caution-make sure the cashews used are not too salty to begin with. The last ones I used were too salted and overpowered the sweetness.

I think Mr. Brown must have found this recipe somewhere around Mt. Olympus, because I believe the Greek Gods must have had this for breakfast. The only recommendation I can make is to add even more dried fruit than the 1 cup of raisins. It's fabulous.

This is so easy to make!!

I have made some changes to suit our tastes. I use melted butter because it doesn't go rancid the way polyunsaturated oils do. With the brown sugar/maple syrup, it has a nice round toasty flavor. I also use cranberries instead of raisins and sometimes replacing the cashews with more almonds.

My picky 2 and 4 year old loves this! They munch on this for a snack and I don't feel guilty. We've never been granola eaters before and this recipe converted us. I tell them its "Cranberry/Almond Crunchies!"

We eat it plain, on top of ice cream, with pudding, yogurt, and with milk.

Never made homemade granola, very simple and very tasty. Recommend this one.

Very easy to make, fun for the kids and it turns out some very good eats. Flavor and texture is great. I used dried cranberrys the first time, trying golden raisins for the next batch. We'll make this again and again.

Used chocolate chips instead of raisins, letting them melt while mixing, and everyone loves it, mixes great with yogurt & cold cereal, great with any other kind of nuts
