Awesome with walnuts and pecans instead of almonds.

I tried this recipe a few months ago, and it is all my family wants to eat for breakfast. I make it plain, with no nuts, etc. I make for different gallon zip locks with different add-ins. With seven of us, there are many tastes to accommodate. Thank you Alton for sharing this recipe! No more cold cereal at our house! I do spend a fair amount of time making granola every week, but it's toally worth it!

I used whole almonds and pistachios with the coconut, also dried cranberries with only 2 T brown sugar. I messed up and mixed everything together (should have left the berries out til the end but added extra juice-1/4 cup real maple syrup and 1/2 cup agave nectar. Baked for 1 hour. It came out great!!!

Simple recipe that allows you to tailor to your liking. I used walnuts and replaced the maple syrup with agava.

Here is how it is for me...
Almost follow the directions and then add a little of myself to it as well.
I added cinnamon, cloves, and pumpkin spice(its close to Thanksgiving
Took out the raisin.,, don't need the added sugar.
Used the nuts I had around the house.. macedonia almonds, macnuts, cashews.
Followed the rest of the recipe as written... AWESOME!!!!
I would have rated this a 5 if it had the spices in it to begin with.
5/18/12 and now i have added nutmeg and ginger..... and pisacchios.. yum!!

Absolutely the simplest most delicious recipe for granola! I cut the sugar in half and added an agave maple syrup blend, it was the perfect sweetness.

This recipe is sooo delicious and it's so easy to make! It truly is the best of both worlds. I used dried mixed berries instead of raisins and I'm very happy with the combination of flavors in this granola. I will definitely be making it again.

I am 15 years old and I love cooking and baking. Last weekend my mom said that I needed to try something new so she had me look up granola recipes. I tried this one because it looked simple and my whole family LOVED it. It was so easy and I doubled the recipe and it is almost gone now. With the rasins I used dried cranberries and it was a great contrast. YUM!

This recipe was great! Instead of putting in raisins I put in dried blueberries and a little bit of candied ginger that I chopped into small pieces. Instead of dark brown sugar I used light. This variation tasted so good! Some nutmeg and vanilla is also a nice touch! The only down side is it goes too quickly!
