Marvelous! I started making it and remembered I had some chai spiced oat/flax I wanted to use up so I tossed it in, used organic unsweetened coconut, coconut oil, and chopped dates instead of raisins. The only nuts in the house (besides me were glazed pecans, I used them. I dislike measuring, so I 'eyeballed' the ingredients and probably went heavy on the brown sugar, coconut and glazed pecans, but the end result was next to Paradise. My neighbor already knocked on the door and said "I don't know what you're making this time but I want some." Thanks Alton!!

So perfect and so easy! It was (and I do mean was awesome! I cut the brown sugar a bit, and my little 3 year old boy loved it as a snack. Can vary up quite a bit to change the flavor very easily. Will certainly make it again and again to have some on hand.

Great recipe - here are two modifications and a "cabinet cleaning" suggestion. First, I like pecans over cashews. Second, a tablespoon of cinnamon is a nice touch. Lastly, if you have crystallized honey in the cabinet, I substituted it for the brown sugar (even if it is still wet. Two things we experienced: the granola will have a darker brown color and it can be pressed into forms (e.g., bars when it is removed from the oven and it should hold (did for us.

The BEST granola recipe and super crunchy. I've made it a dozen times, sometimes true to form and other times throwing in other types of nuts that I have on hand. For the oil, I always use EVOO and usually substitute dried cranberries and unsweetened coconut shavings (Wholefoods sells it instead of raisins and sweetened coconut. It's also forgiving in that you can add a variety of different nuts and dried fruits and it's still delish. I sometimes add pecans, pumpkin seeds, sunflower seeds, etc but try to keep to the nut ratio to oatmeal ratio true to the recipe. This is a staple in our home and frequent request from my hubby.

Made granola for the first time today, and I used this recipe. It is so easy and delicious! I veered off from the recipe and the only fruits/nuts I put in it are dried mixed berries, and slivered almonds : and instead of the dark brown sugar, I used light brown...all in all, it turned out great! super yummy! Especially in yogurt :D if you like granola, I would suggest trying this one!

WOW oh WOW, this is the best granola I have ever made. I actually had to do a 2nd batch the following weekend because everyone ate the 1st batch up so quickly. I didn't add the cashews and it still came out perfect. I think that the coconut in the granola really gives it a great kick, thanks Alton brown!

I like the idea of having fresh granola. Tastes great and easy to make! I make a batch every other week. I add to it my greek yogurt in the morning - sometimes I add fruit too.

Very good. Came out crispy. It's a great recipe because you can mix in what you want. I didn't use cashews but I used a mix of walnuts and pecan. I also used a small pinch of cinnamon added to the wet ingredients but I could barely taste it when cooked. It comes out fairly loose and is good for cereal. It does not clump up.
