Tried it out on a family member. Normally she doesn't put sugar on her grapefruit. She liked it anyway. I had to use a torch./lighter as I didn't have a brulee or kitchen torch. I also used raw sugar. Turned out very well. Next time I'll use a real torch. LOL

I have not eaten grapefruit in several years and thought I never would again. I had to try this (in part because it involves fire and it is fantastic! My pencil torch died on the second serving this morning so I'm off to buy a new Bernzomatic. Turbinado and sea salt worked well.

This was a great and fun way to cut the bitterness of the grapefruit. All the fun of creme brulee minus the creme!

Fantastic, everyone loved it. Served in martini glasses with a sparkler for New Year's Eve....bit hit.

Oh my! THIS was delicious!!! I freakin' hate grapefruit with a fiery burning passion, yet I knew there was potential in there somewhere. I saw this on Good Eats and had to try it. It was fantastic, although I wish I had a real torch. I had to improvise, but it still turned out great. I love the lesson about salt, I now apply it to everything. I took bland cookies and sprinkled a little salt on top and they became fantastic. A+!

I was looking for something fast to do with grapefruit, and got exactly that with this tasty recipe. I used Sugar in the Raw and it turned out great. Even my 7 year-old nephew loved it. Plus, it gave me an excuse to use my torch :. I will definitely make this again.
