I'm made this to go with beef fajita nachos that I made. My hubby said it was the best guacamole he has ever had and that I have ever made. I followed the instructions to a T except I used green onion instead as my hubby is not a big fan of raw onions in his dips... Turned out perfect! This also kept well in the fridge for a few days. I kept the seeds from the avocado put those on top of the dip and plastic wrap on the actual dip in the bowl so no air could get to it. It did not turn brown

This has been my go-to guacamole recipe for a couple years. You can adjust the amounts of ingredients to your preference (I like more cilantro but the result is always delicious. I get requests for it all the time and people rave about it whenever I make it for events. Yum!

JD313, why review a guacamole recipe if you don't like the authentic version?
This recipe is classic and delicious...the recipe you have outlined, while probably tasty as well, is an avocado dip with no real Mexican flavor.
Oh, and if you find cumin bitter, toasting slightly in a dry pan can mellow it out.

    Terrible recipe.
NEVER add cumin to guacamole (too bitter.
Add 1/2 tsp Frank's Red Hot instead.
Also, 1/3 of a finely, diced red onion is all.
Crush one clove of garlic (if you like garlic.
    Make sure you pre-cut everything.
Don't toss avocado with lime juice.
Strain lime at the end after all of the other ingredients.
After smashing everything- for a great taste, add a quarter cup of feta cheese.
    Stir in lightly.

This is the best guac recipe. Very easy to make. Fresh and amazing. Use it by itself or on Fajitas... knock your socks off. I have made this recipe now over a dozen times.

I have made this recipe exactly as written numerous times. It is without a doubt the BEST guacamole I've ever eaten. I have also made it several times with the single substitution of switching out 1/2 of a red onion for 1/2 of the regular onion that the recipe calls for as that is what I had on hand. Both ways are equally good.
