These are truly awesome marshmallows, but beware - the recipe doesn't make as many as it claims, and you'll eat them faster than you think.

Even with a well oiled spatula, I find the marshmallows hard to spread. I pour them out onto the pan and sprinkle the cornstarck and powdered sugar mixture on top before spreading the marshmallows out on the pan. It works much better. I also press them down with the back of my bench scraper. Dipped in melted chocolate...the best!

These are the best marshmallows I have ever ate. They are easy to make if you have a stand mixer, which I do. They melt so nicely in hot chocolate and are wonderful on s'mores.

I used this recipe last week and everyone loved them! I'm going to branch out now with new flavors. I think I'll start with raspberry and then lemon.

I used my Oster Kitchen Center mixer and it's just not strong enough. I'm going to borrow a Kitchen Aid with hopes that some day soon I get one for Christmas or birthday.

I haven't tried this recipe yet, but trust Alton completely and know it will come out fabulous. I want to make these in Halloween colors for our upcoming party - how would one go about coloring these? Coat them in colored sugar, or perhaps add liquid food coloring with the vanilla? Thanks!

My grandaughter loooovvveees marshmellows! When she and her sister were staying overnight last week we decided that we should try making
"homemade" marshmellows. This recipe was the only one we tried and it has to be THE BEST.
They loved measuring and stirring and checking the candy thermometer....but I handeled the hot syrup.
We were amazed at how it actually became marshmellow. and it was so much fun to coat them in the sugar.
We also tested them in hot cocoa, frozen, and in smores.yummmmmmm They are soooo much better than the store bought varieties.
We plan to make more and add some color...tye dye effect....on the next batch.

Making marshmallows seemed like a daunting task, but it was actually quite easy! I used a candy thermometer and just made sure to keep a close eye on the syrup. The marshmallows tasted SO much better than store bought, and were delicious as s'mores!

I followed the recipe as printed and had great results. My Kitchen Aid stand mixer held up well. I'm looking forward to trying some of the variations.
