By far, the best pretzels I've ever made. This recipe will definitely be saved in my recipe box.

Best pretzel recipe ever! I had tried a mix before and they were horrible! And being from the Philly area...soft pretzels need to good! These are so good and very easy to do! The only thing is that I did try it the first time as the directions call for and the second time used whole wheat flour. Using whole wheat flour did not turn out good. The dough didn't rise properly and they couldn't be stretched into pretzel shapes. I say stick to AB's method. He knows what he's talking about and they come out fantastic!

This recipe is amazing. I made them for a tailgating party and everyone loved them! Especially me since they were so easy to make. This is a new staple for our house. I didn't have parchment paper so I used a cookie sheet with oil and they came out great!

These were great and easy to make! I didn't have any pretzel salt, so I just ground up some course sea salt in my mortar and pestle and that worked fine.

Great pretzel recipe! We've made it a couple of times and its now a regular request by our boys. We have wrapped the dough around all-beef hotdogs to make pretzel dogs which works beautifully. The one thing we would change is the direction to bake them on parchment paper that has been brushed with oil. Sticks every time. Then, we tried spraying a large cookie sheet with baking spray and it worked great, no sticking at all.

This is a GOOD soft pretzel! So good infact that I had to sign up just to review this recipe.

I cut everything in half and made 4 pretzels instead of 8. I usually have a hard time with homemade dough but there were absolutely no hiccups. I only had table salt for the mixture and luckily some corse salt for topping. I was concerned that my stand mixers' lowest setting was way too fast because the dough came together within a minute in a half but everything turned out great! I added the baking soda to my water before the boiling point to avoid any messes some of the other reviewers had. Also baked without parchment paper using a veg. oiled pan sprinkled with a little flour. Good times!

These are on par with (and in some cases better than most other soft pretzels I've eaten and definitely better than the frozen ones from a grocery store. Can't wait to make these again!

I made these for an Oktoberfest party and they were a huge hit! I made a beer and cheddar fondue for an accompaniment but totally unnecessary because they were so delicious.

Made for the first time tonight.

We did these in a bread machine, put all the wet ingredients in and floated the yeast on top for 15 to 20 minutes. Then put in the dry ingredients and started the machine for a dough cycle, about 1 1/2 hours.

    Why?

We have found that this provides a good rise and consistent results no mater the temp or time of year. Now if we could just find a larger bread machine to double the batch!

An error we made on the first tray, we did not remove in 30 seconds from the boiling water. Be sure you do that, they pick up to much water if left to long. Also agree with other readers, put in the baking soda first! It will jump up at you! We had the pot half full and that saved us.

My husband and I love this recipe. The first time I made them, I did not have a stand mixer (which I have now invested in, so I mixed by hand. The pretzels did turn out very good, but my arm was hurting later from all the mixing. I prepared a simple beer cheese sauce with them and they were awesome. I now have to make them for my entire family for Christmas.
