I thought this would be complicated, however Alton showed how easy it is to make soft pretzels
My pretzels came out great and tasty. I followed his direction exactly. Nobody can 't say these pretzels are not delicious.

I have wanted to make these for a very long time and finally did today. Perfection. They taste just like the street vendors in NYC that I grew up on. So easy to make . I followed the directions and was pleasantly surprised.

All of the previous reviews are spot on. Absolutely incredible. A bit of a process the first time you make them but not hard and well worth it. My only advice would be once you form the pretzel, make sure you really secure the ends of the dough. I just lightly pinched the ends and a few fell apart when i put them in the simmering water. Trying to reshape them was a challenge. Those didn't come out so pretty but they still tasted great.

Can't get enough of these pretzels! The first time I made them I got about 10 large pretzels. The next time I cut them into nugget size pieces (about 2 inches. I served them for a party with different types of mustards for dipping and they were a big hit. Can't wait to make them again!

Absolutely love these, we get 12 to 14 pretzels from each batch. We have also added things like dried jalapeno peppers and a vegetable dip mix for different flavors. Because they turn out so big and soft they make wonderful substitutes for bread in a sandwich. The only problem is I don't know how to store them, I have tried bread bags, and air-tight container, they get really soggy. Thanks.

I've made this several times and the last two I substituted beer for the water. Added a great depth to the flavor but the recipe is great the way it is.

    I recommend!

What a fun, family-friendly recipe. We did this as a lenten project and could have left out the egg wash to be more authentic, but giving up sweets was enough for two seven year olds! Thanks for another spot-on recipe!

These are THE BEST pretzels ever! They are so easy to make and so so yummy! The first time I made these I messed up 3 times(an didn't do anything about it and they still tasted amazing! This time I'm making them folowing all of the directions and I hope will be great!!
PS. I always add 1tbs more butter to make the dough easier to work with
