Made these for a beer tasting party I hosted. BIG HIT with the guys. I ran out of egg yolk mixture, so I recommend making double that. I also made them as pretzel bites instead of full pretzels and had to flip them half way through the baking process so that they wouldn't be too brown on one side.

They were delicious, but the egg yolk I brushed on turned green. Does anyone know why this would have happened?

I am a serious cook but not a serious baker- I hate following directions to a T- these were DYNAMITE! I've had pretzels from Germany, the mall, breweries, etc. These were great- perfect texture, flavor, everything. As long as you follow the directions. I did have a problem with the wax paper.. stuck to the bottoms even with oil. Maybe just use greased cookie sheets? Anyway, have these at your next party, movie night or whatever! Very much worth it, especially with a homemade cheese sauce.

These were not only easy but FANTASTIC. There was a picture of these posted online today where the baker had made them up into rolls instead of pretzels and it really pushed me to make them. I have tried other pretzel recipes that turned out poorly, but these were everything a pretzel should be. Thanks Alton!

These were easy to make and turned out wonderful. Didn't have to cook them as long as noted. I also used fast acting yeast and the rise time wasn't quite as long. I also made a beer cheese dip using another reviewers recipe. However I used porter beer, Wisconsin sharp cheese, a little milk and a little flour. Don't have measurements just kind of added ingredients until it tasted good. It was wonderful! Will make these again.

Great doesn't describe them well enough. They are definitely some of the best pretzels I have eaten. The only thing I would warn people would be to keep an eye on them in the oven. I burnt the first batch. I have a new oven, so at 450 it only took about 5-7 minutes to turn golden brown. I must say, you will be tempted to eat two or three in one sitting, they're just that good. Another win for Alton Brown!

These are amazing. I had a simple recipe I loved, and this one blows it out of the water. Thanks, Alton!
