I just watched the episode on Youtube and although it's a bit confusing he does not bake before boiling. He bakes a batch, shows it to be a failure and then starts a new batch, boiling those first. Easy to miss.

My kids wanted soft pretzels at the mall and I was shocked to see the price!!! $3.00 for a pretzel! I don't think so...I told them I'd make them at home. They didn't let me forget! I made them as soon as we got home. The kids said they were way better then any mall pretzel. The great thing is I think it cost about $2.00 to make them and the recipe makes 8 pretzels.

I'm not a good cook by far but after watching Alton Brown do this on his show I decided to give it a shot. It was easy, the steps were simple and the results were very good. These refrigerate well.

This recipe is wonderful. I tried a couple different recipes for my daughters cooking party and this was the easiest and the most tasty. I received so many compliments I lost count. Definitely try this one.

I tried these on a whim. They turned out great but you have to eat them straight away. Once they sit a bit, get funky. If you've got a crowd coming, definately worth the effort!

I made this recipe for the first time this weekend. I twisted the pretzels so the holes went very big, and used them to make sandwiches...delicious!

The instructions were clear enough for my children to make, and turned out delicious. The whole family loved them.

This recipe is surprisingly easy and turned out perfectly. It's fairly time consuming, but not difficult at all. The reviewers who mention that the pretzels should be baked, then boiled, then baked again are mistaken. If you watch the show, Alton first demonstrates that simply baking the pretzels results in an inferior product. Then he says that the proper method is to boil, then bake -- exactly as the online recipe says. One other helpful tip -- on the show Alton mentions that each pretzel should be made from four and a half ounces of the dough. Measuring the dough for each pretzel makes for perfect results!

My kids loved to help with cooking and this is an easy one for them to start on. My eight year old loved them.
