Wonderful recipe! I love how Alton gives us little cooking/science lessons. I wish he had warned me about what happens when you just throw baking soda into boiling water. Made me jump a couple of feet and quite a mess of my stove top. Other than that, this was a fun recipe and my husband thought it was a great treat.

Fantastic! Easy recipe to make with delicious results. Instead of salt, try a mix of sugar and cinnamon to sprinkle on your pretzels for a sweeter flavor.

Alton Browns recipes are the greatest. These pretzels came out perfect ( even substituted 1 1/2 cups whole wheat flour. My 2 1/2 year old and I had a blast making these. They are easy to do.

Oustanding! Superbowl success! You can't mess these up, even if you try. I did an overnight 'cool rise' in my fridge (not sure Alton would approve, but I could stay up to let them rise and then bake them and they were still amazing. Maybe if I let them rise the way they're supposed to, they will be tasty AND pretty next time (my pretzel shaping skill was a little lacking.

I made this for the super bowl party yesterday. This recipe is awesome! The dough is easy to work with and the finished pretzel was great! None left :( I also made 16 instead of 8 with the dough but could have easily doubled the recipe and they would have been gone. I also used sea salt to finish. Better than a pretzel vendor's! It was voted the favorite food of the party. Thanks Alton!

My first time making soft pretzels and they were delish! The dough did not take 4-5 minutes to knead, more like 2, and I used coarse sea salt for the topping - yum!

Tried it 3 times, just cant get the dough right, it's either too dry or it becomes a super sticky goop that sticks to everything. Sorry, AB, we wasted three bags of flour trying to get this one right and all we got for our troubles was a messy kitchen.

Very easy to make and everyone loved them. Next time I'll double the recipe.
