Best pancake recipe ever! I use whole wheat flour instead and they're not quite as fluffy, but still soft, tender and delicious. My whole family, especially nieces and nephews, love these. What a difference in flavor. I've even converted some of my "Bisquick" using relatives to this recipe now, extra steps and all. (Their kids don't like the Bisquick ones anymore LOL

Best pancakes ever!!! If yours came out flat, blonde and tasteless you did not follow the recipe exactly such as substitute ingredients, or did not follow the method. I have made these pancakes since 2004 and they have come out perfectly every time except when I tried to take a short cut. Follow the recipe exactly and you will not be disappointed!!!!

Yum! Like always, Alton makes food 'Good Eats'. My 5yr old helped me mix the flour mixture, then easily did the wet ingredients. We split the recipe in half, no problem there.
As for the people below who have given low review stars because of not being able to get the pancakes golden brown and not having flavor, you HAVE to set your heat at least to med, I go med-high. And then adjust as needed. Get the pan ripping hot. If its not brown, it won't really have flavor, because the food isn't cooked to perfection. Golden brown=Flavor.

Those are super easy, super tasty, super fluffy.my kids loved them. I feel like Alton Brown got the since of cooking and baking packed down. I've tried other recipes of other top chefs, they were good but I always tasted the baking powder, not this time. Another advantage is that I can make a big batch and that will cut time in half for when I want to make them in the morning for my kids.

These are great. I made some plain, and I mixed in things like chocolate chips, pecans & cinnamon to other ones. The pancakes are fluffy, delicious & easy to make.

Not as difficult as it may seem. I like eggy pancakes; my husband likes fluffy. Somehow these satisfied both of us. You can make this all at once by cutting dry recipe by 1/6, and wet by 1/2 ... makes enough pancakes for 4.
