Many failures in the kitchen had led me to believe that pancakes were not something that was intended be made hot and fresh in my kitchen. I watched AB make these, and thought, "Is it really that easy?" Well, it is. They were perfect. The recipe stores well, but the mix didn't last long after my family figured out that I finally mastered pancakes!

My grandmother used to make the best buttermilk pancakes, but then so does everyone's grandmother. Anyway, this is the closest recipe I have found to hers. It is the best one I have tried and I probably will not try any others.

I followed every words of the recipe. It worked out great! Better pancake than any that I've had else where. I added topings with whatever I have at home, including chocolate chips, diced grapes, and diced bananas. I like the bananas the best. No need for syrup b/c you will get plenty of sweetness from the banana alone.
Oh, did I mention it is very easy?

A few steps to prep but well worth the effort - light, crispy edges, excellent taste and quick cooking. A must have recipe for any home chef.

These are the best pancakes I have ever made. I never used butter on my griddle, I have always used oil. Use the butter as suggested in recipe, they turn out perfect. Thanks Alton Brown, even my picky husband and son loved these pancakes, now they request them! Slsfrederick

This makes an all-around great pancake. I can't begin to imagine why I ever used that mix stuff, it has no flavor compared to these.

It is nice to find a recipe that you can make home made mix instead of purchasing over processed mixes from the store. Thanks to Alton..

This recipe is a great idea! I honestly don't think I'll ever buy an instant box mix again. It was a little troublesome mixing the wet ingredients (a little more complex than adding water I did not have buttermilk on hand, (but made a substitute with lemon juice and regular milk All of the other wet ingredients are staples you'll most likely have on hand. I added a bit a vanilla to the batter and I am now a pancake making hero in my house!

Easy and is exactly the same if waffles are desired instead of pancakes.
