Perfect with ciabatta bread brushed w/evoo and slightly salted (kosherstyled in the Panini way (use your George Forman. Makes for great dipping too. Anything less than a 5 here shows lack 'n slack.

I believe I've had leek potato soup before, but I don't recall it ever being this brilliant.

So I made it over the holidays for my extended family (not a small deal, as my sister hosts family meals and cooks everything, and is pretty choosy. It was a big hit; my 10-year-old nephew, who is also pretty picky, snarfed it down and then snarfed another bowl. I felt so honored. Kudos, once again, to Mr. B for providing the toolkit - not just the recipe, but the inspiration.

This soup tastes kind of like a baked potato. I think the buttermilk adds a really nice tang to the soup, too.

Will definitely be making this one again.

The first time I tried this, also the first time for leeks, it came out great when served hot and later cold had different taste. Well worth the effort to make.

This was, without a doubt, the best leek potato soup I've ever tried to cook and everyone from 5 to 62 loved it.

Of course, Alton is my favorite cook of all time. He makes cooking seem like a vocation instead if an occupation. Do you have an older brother or single father?

The soup is fantastic but next time we will double the potatoes and only puree half of them. We miss potato chunks.

This soup was easy to make and better than any soup I had in Paris!
