    As I was adding the vinegar I thought it might be too stong, but I decided to trust Alton, big mistake. I would use only 1/4 cup of vinegar if I were to make it again. It came out very strong. Also if you eat it the next day, the bacon gets soggy. It tastes best over lettuce, this way the vinegar taste is a little toned down.

    I thought this salad was delicious. Loved the bacon with the mustard and thyme. Mmmmm Didn't think there was too much vinegar.

    Well, I like vinegar so I didn't let the negative reviews scar me away. My family really liked this! We did NOT think it had too much vinegar. For those who might be wary of the amount of vinegar, use less initially then add more as needed.

    Followed the recipe but it was inedible, too much vinegar. Maybe the recipe should be 1/4 cup red wine vinegar and 1/2 cup olive oil.

    I love my lentils, but Whew! - all I taste after making this dish was the red wine vinegar! It's really a shame too, with all the lovely aromatics in the recipe. Maybe reversing the oil to vinegar ratio would do the trick (1/2c oil to 1/4c vinegar.

    I like lentils and thought the base of this salad has a good start. However, I don't know if it's a typo error but the red wine vinegar was way too strong. Maybe the olive oil and vinegar was mixed up?
