This is an easy and delicious recipe, as others have stated. Even my 4 year old likes it. I did not use the coriander or the grains of paradise since they are a bit pricey and I did not feel I would use them enough at other times. I used the cumin since it is my favorite spice and added just a touch of curry. So don't let the idea of buying the spices turn you off. This is a great flexible recipe that would most likely work with the spices you have on hand. This will definitely become a regular in my soup rotation.

This was a good and easy recipe. It was a little bit salty though. I believe it was because I used sea salt (smaller grains instead of Kosher salt. Next time I will half the salt and it will be perfect. Thanks!

I have made this lentil soup recipe numerous times. It is a family favorite and always satisfies. As with some of the other reviewers, I do cut the salt down to about half. I do use the Grains of Paradise. It is now one of my favorite spices. Bon Appetit!

This is a very easy and tastey recipe. I didn't add the grains of paradise and I added a bit of garlic. I have made it several times.

This soup is so good! I did cut the amount of salt in half based on others reviews and it is still has plenty of salt in it. I didn't have the grains of paradise, so I skipped that. I did add a few cloves of fresh garlic and some ground ginger. Delicious!

If using homemade chicken stock, salt will not be an issue. My mother especially liked the soup, my husband is a little harder to please but he still gave it a thumbs up! We garnished with light sour cream and fresh parsley from the garden. I followed the recipe as it was the first time. Next time I will probably cut back a little on the cumin (personal preference and add a more of the grains of paradise (hard to find but I wanted to try it, purchased online and probably a bit more tomato and who knows maybe a few of the other things people have tried!
