This was a pretty good soup. I like the touch of blending it together. It was a little salty for my taste-- think I'll cut the broth with some H2O next time, so the yummy, peppery flavor of the lentils is more prevalent.

Didn't care for this. Was edible, but not very tasty.

Really good Lentil Soup recipe. And for serving...add a tablespoon of white vinegar and stir into soup. Yummmmm.

I would have rated this higher but it was way to salty. Next time I will add the salt to taste. I also didn't have the grains of paradise (just used pepper. The soup also came out a little runny[from the picture I thought it would be thicker]. I either need to find a different lentil [used brown]or cut back on the chicken stock by about 2 cups.

I have never made lentil soup without a hamhock or other smoked pork for seasoning. Other than the chicken broth which can be substituted it was a delicious vegetarian alternative. I will make this often.

Made the best pot of lentil soup I have ever made using the recipe - I usually add curry powder to mine, but this was just as tasty as my thrown together concoction. Now I just have to try it with some Grains of Paradise...

This soup is fabulous. It is quite filling and very easy to make. I added more spice since we tend to like dishes that are very flavorful. I highly recommend this soup. Thanks Alton!

AB you've gone and done it again. This is one terrific recipe. For those who don't know what or where to find Grains of Paradise here is some info: Grains of Paradise aka Melegueta Pepper aka Guinea pepper, is a rare spice indigenous to the coastal regions of West Africa, from Sierra Leone to Angola. The Melegueta plant, however, is not related to the pepper vine but is a member of the ginger family. The sphere-like seeds of Grains of Paradise look very much like cardamom seeds. (Cardamom is also a member of the ginger family. Grains of Paradise has a pungent flavor with a peppery bite and hints of cardamom and camphor. Use it wherever an exotic pepper seasoning is needed, especially in the cuisine of North Africa, including Moroccan and Tunisian dishes. You can find it in an international market in your area or you can buy it online at a number of sites. I've used igourmet.com. Warning:this is cheap=I've paid anywhere from $4.00 up to $8 an ounce for this stuff. It does make a tasty addition and adds authenticity to your cuisine. Hope this helps some.
