I LOVED this! I followed some reviews and kept back some salt, but ended up putting it back in at the end. My kids liked it too! It was GREAT with a pinch of cayenne!!!!! I will keep this in my fast and yummy arsenal!

Great soup. It makes enough to feed an army; very filling. Way too salty. I thought twice about putting that much salt in, but thought that the recipe had probably been duplicated and checked before publishing. I wished I had read through the reviews before putting it together. I threw in a peeled raw potato 20 minutes before serving when I realized how salty it was. I'm not sure it helped as it was still too much salt. I did double the vegetables, as well as the spices. I also added raw spinach at the end. Very good. I will make it again, but with a normal sprinkle of salt when sweating the vegetables. Could not find Grains of Paradise either, so I used freshly ground pepper.

I have made this a number of times, always with a bit of sausage and some spinach. I cook the sausage (remove casings, about 2 links separately to brown it, and add it at the end. I also double the carrots and celery - why not? I use red lentils, which cook much quicker. I add a bit of plain yogurt when I serve, delicious. Very filling.

Thought this was a great recipe! I did replace the grains of paradise with plain old pepper though. Still, easy, yummy and healthy! Served it with bread and salad, and mixed yogurt into it for my son (and me. Great family meal!

My husband and I thought this was great and my kids liked it too. Will definitely make again. It was my first time using Grains of Paradise and I really liked the flavor. Kind of like a white pepper only with something more! Was really pleased with how this came out. It's definitely worth trying.
