I have attempted to make this recipe several times, and the onions never turn out! Every time they range from barely cooked to burnt to a crisp- all on the same sheet pan! Aside from that, the base turns out pretty good. But I will probably be finding another recipe to please all of the green bean casserole lovers in my family.

This recipe deserves its 5 stars. A sure winner at the holiday table and will get raves from those who know the canned version but not this one. I made it exceedingly simple 1 Used French's fried onions to save time, effort and improve the results 2 I add Cheddar as that is how our family always made it 3 We grow our own beans, and blanch them for 3 minutes before freezing. As such, by the time I warm them in the microwave, they are at the perfect doneness and simply need drained of any moisture. I pretty much start at page two of the recipe and can go from start to table in just over a half hour.

Do the words cross your eyes and say YUMMMMMM mean anything? I make this as often as I possibly can. It is a recipe that you will make over and over again.

I made this for the last two Thanksgivings in a row and people rave about it and want the recipe. I can't take credit for it, but it is so delicious that it is now a family tradition.

This dish was on my table for Thanksgiving this year. When I made this, I was nervous about makingthe mushroom soup from scratch. I actually alos chickened out and bought the canned soup. I'm so glad I didn't! The flavor is unmatched when you make it by scratch. I also cut the fat some by using fat free ingredients. You would never know it! I've been craving it since Thanksgiving!
I reccomend watching the video because the recipe can be slightly confusing if you don't know what the end result looks like at each stage. Enjoy!

So yummy! The only amendment I made to the recipe was to deep-fry (rather than bake the onions... I know it kind of defeats any kind of "healthy" aspect to it, but they cooked evenly and far more quickly too! Oh, and for sure use your mandoline slicer on the onions!!

This is a faulous recipe. It was delicious & quite a hit Thanksgiving. Because of some of the reviews I was very careful with the onion rings, tossing them frequently & as the thinner ones browned I removed those & returned the remaining ones to finish cooking. They turned out beautifully. I took a chance & made it the first time for Thanksgiving dinner & it was a definite hit that I am sure I will make again frequently.

Great recipe! Even my family members who do not like mushrooms loved this recipe! I had a little trouble with the onions turning out the way I wanted them to and my helper in the kitchen mixed most of the onions into the green beans rather than save some for the top. It still turned out fantastic and was enjoyed by all
