I was a little worried that the batter was to runny, but they cooked great. I think that the people that are adding extra flour are missing out. Nice and light, with a little bit of crisp. The texture was a little grainy, but in a good way. And the flavor was light and oaty and toasty. I'm definitely making these on a regular basis from now on. I'll probably try adding a little vanilla next time.

I made this recipe exactly. The waffles are very fluffy, not the crunchy outside with fluffy inside I am used to having.
I fould them to have a very "grain like" flavor that I really liked.

After asking my family what they thought, we decided on a 4 star only because we like the crisp outside and think a little vanilla would go a long way in this recipe.

they were good, but the dry ingredients were not right. I make waffles from scratch all the time and 2x liquid to dry, even if you let it sit is still runny. I had to add more flour, but it is tricky b/c it does thicken up as it sits so you just have to add til you get a thick batter.I know he likes to weight the ingredients but I wish we could have the cups anyway

Very good! I was afraid that with the processed oats, it would have a gritty texture. But they were very light and fluffy, with a mild, slightly sweet flavor. I'm definately making these instead of regular waffles from now on! (They didn't get crispy on the outside, but if you prefer them that way you can drop them in a toaster for a few seconds. I did that to warm up leftovers, too.

Easily the best waffle recipe I have ever made, and I've made lots of waffles. I used to be strictly belgian, till that wafflemaker died and my GF got me a new standard wafflemaker. They've never been as good until the oat waffle graced my presence.

Crunchy, sturdy, flavorful, carries butter and maple syrup really well, or good just the way they are. They resemble frozen multi-grain waffles in a way, only much better.

Also, since the batter is oat-heavy, the gluten count is really low. The batter can take lots of abuse without getting tough. Very convenient!

Wonderful. Very easy and tasty. I made a half recipe. Toasting the oats was easy. You smell them even more than nuts. I was afraid that I had burnt them, but they just smell really toasty. I also used about half whole wheat flour and AP flour instead of all AP to boost the nutrition. This did not deter from taste, texture, or cooking. Also, I added some frozen blueberries into the mix while I let it sit for the 5 mins. Super yum. Totally recommend this recipe. Fast and yummy.

O My Gosh GOOD! Used stone ground wheat flour, and only had 2 eggs - but my goodness were they good. No need to ever try any other waffle recipe for me, this is it.

Abesolutely one of the best waffle recipies i have ever made. They are especially good with real mape syrup and maybe a peice of fried chicken. The toasted oats lent a distinct nuty-ness and there is great crisp. I would recomend these to anyone. By the way i haven't been able to find altons oat book online or in any local bookstores. Does anyone know where i can find it?

I've always been let down by waffles. Their limp and tasteless. Not these!! They are crunchy and nutty tasting. I even froze the leftover waffles and they were actually awesome out of the toaster{at the very lowest setting}. They are so good no syrup needed. I just eat them like toast. Thanks Alton for the best waffle ever!
