These were good, but the bake time seems to be off. I didn't even bake them the full 30 minutes and they were over done. I agree with some of the other reviews that say they need more butter and I don't know if buttermilk is a crucial element, but I could really taste the "sourness" of it and it did not appeal to me at all.

I see that people are rating this recipe at a 5 and than adding their changes. It's not a 5 if you change something. I made a half batch which can change the end result a bit. Mine came out soft on the inside and hard on the outside of some. The actual bread was not very sweet and there wasn't enough cinnamon or butter maybe. I also waited a while before adding my flour and salt to the yeast mixture because that didn't make sense to me. This was a lot of work for not what I expected.

I made these cinnamon rolls for Mother's Day and they are FABULOUS!!! Followed the instructions to the letter; just added raisins and pecans to the filling and baked them 25 minutes. Perfect dough, perfect icing, perfect breakfast for Mom. Thanks for the great recipe and tutelage, Alton!!

With the eggy dough it reminds me of brioche. Absolutely delicious.

Usually I bake the refrigerated/ready to bake kind and this was my first attempt at making my own. They were perfect! My kids loved them, I'll never buy pre-made again.

Quite delicious. I think quality ingredients also make a difference. Here in Bulgaria, I could only find dark brown sugar (which is wonderful by the way, if that's what you have! and regular quality cinnamon, which was yummy, but I am looking forward to trying them with a better cinnamon. Watch them carefully in the last 10 minutes of baking if you are unsure of your oven. Even though I have a thermometer keeping my oven at the right temp, my rolls were done at about 23 minutes.

My dad went for seconds (which means he liked it a lot a lotta, and said they were the best he had ever tasted. Same with the rest of my family. I also had fun making them. Thanks Alton!

I have made a variety of cinnamon rolls over the years. This is by far the most delicious. I made some coconut filling and used it instead of the cinnamon /sugar filling for a yummy variation. The result was a sumptuous sweet roll. Thanks Alton for this wonderful recipe.

The dough took about an hour and a half longer to rise than what was said, but I was patient and I am so glad I was. They turned out perfect. They are definitely the best tasting cinnamon rolls I have had and that is saying a lot since it was my first time making them. They are perfect for breakfast or dessert.
