After watching the show, I decided to make myself dinner! Fried up some potatoes with it and I had a great meal. Alton makes cooking simple.

If not the best steak I've ever eaten, absolutely the best steak I've ever made, in spite of the smoke! Juicy, flavorful and cooked to perfection using the exact recipe. Bye, bye grill. The witty Mr. Brown certainly knows his stuff. Thanks, Alton.

Ok..I have to give credit where credit is due. In this house hubby walks around worshipping the ground Alton walks on. It's "AB" cooked this, this way..and honey next time you may want to try something "AB" did last night on his show..uggg!!! When he popped the tape in on the "steak episode" I was like..yeah yeah yeah..I am a DIE HARD "griller"!! But-I watched, gave in, and tried "AB the cooking gods way". I have to say..I will NEVER EVER cook a steak on the grill again! Foregt the fast, easy clean up and no standing in the heat on the deck- this was the BEST steak(s I have ever made. Hats off to you Alton, I have to give this one to you. THANKS!

If you are wanting to cook steaks in a hurry, this is the way to cook them, reduced down to their simpliest cooking technique. Makes the prefect dish everytime.

I just made this last night and it was great, tender, moist, and cooked to perfection. However, like most of the other reviews have stated the smoke alarm did go off, even with the exhaust fan on my stove running and a small stationary far helping to blow all the smoke towards it. However the alarm went off as i was removing it from the oven and not during the initial searing process go figure? I like my steaks medium so i added the extra minute like he said to each side but that really wasnt enough so for anyone out there trying this and going for medium add another 2 minutes to each side in the oven.

Great tasting steak. Easy to follow directions.

First time I made it I smoked up the kitchen. Second time I used super canola oil for the higher smoke point. It still smoked up the kitchen but not as bad.

I saw this episode of Good Eats when it first aired and it was the first time I ever tried a recipe from any show. I've made this simple recipe often since then. It was, and still is, the best steak I've ever had.

This has become my basic recipe for steak. I get great results with it, though I do use more like 90 seconds per side for searing, and I usually work with thicker steaks. Since finding this approach, I no longer prefer grilling to pan-cooking for steaks.
