This was super easy & has GREAT flavor, it is juicy & tender. I saw some reviews talk about trouble with smoke & their smoke detectors going off---we ran the exhaust fan on the oven, like we do everytime we use the oven/stove, and we did not have any smoke trouble. The best steak we've had in a long time.

    Thanks Alton!

If you follow this simple recipe, you will get a steak that rivals those expensive steakhouses. You want have to rely on steakhouses any longer following this recipe. Perfect steaks everytime.

Being southern and not being able to cook a steak was not good - thank you Alton for finally showing me the way and helping me to get my cast iron well seasoned in the process. Goes great with Alton's perfect baked potato!

Great recipe for making sure you don't kill a prime cut of meat. My family loved it.

It's probably because I never really learned how to cook a great steak,( or most likely just a little leary of failingthat we relied on the so-called "Great Steakhouse" expertise when dining out. After watching Alton's program, we went out and bought our first cast iron pan and also stopped for the best rib-eye and strip we could find.(USDA PRIME baby! We followed the recipe to the second, and were rewarded with the BEST steak we have EVER had!! Yes, we had to alert the neighbors that our kitchen was not on fire and that I would take all the smoke alarms down next time; but it was a small price to pay. I have even started bragging to all my friends that I have finally reached "steak nirvana"! Yea I know, i'm in real trouble now! Many thanks to Alton Brown for a 5-star program! He is the BEST.
