My husband works in construction and he takes a couple of these pies with him to eat on the job. He comes home and tells me that I need to make more because the guys on the crew keep eating all his pies. They love them!!!!

I love the whole pocket pie idea, but the mango and curry recipe was awful. Maybe it was the vinegar that ruined it. I love both mango and curry but found these inedible. The crust was fine and easy to work with.

I made AB's Pocket Pies to take to a picnic. The filling was some beef stew that I had made a few days before, as well as the chocolate filling. The dough was flakey, the pies were wonderful even at room temp, they were a big hit! I'm planning on making a big batch to take to my local Ren Faire

This is a great recipe for make ahead breakfast meals. We used the pastry recipe to make fruit and ham and cheese pockets. Throw them in the freezer for a quick microwave breakfast on the go. I like it because it's made from scratch which means no preservatives. And they're delicious!

I've done pies like this with other fillings, they're always good! I've made a spicy peach filling, apple pie filling, leftover mushroom stroganoff, etc into pies. They're great for breakfast too!

This recipe, and its variations, can add variety to a hectic schedule with just a little weekend planning. Great for breakfast or lunch! Thanks Alton!
