This was delicious and very moist; however, I also found it extremely dense and too eggy. It also lacked sweetness and flavor. I've made pound cake on several occasions before and I followed this recipe to the T, so I'm not quite sure what I did wrong. I'd be willing to try this recipe wrong because it wasn't horrible, if only someone could tell me what I did wrong. I've skimmed over past reviews and several others had similar problems.

So easy and delicious. Even a 'non-baker' like me made an outstanding pound cake. So moist and delicious I have been practically banned from bringing it to the teacher's lounge at my daughter's school! They may say not to bring it in but there's never a crumb left at the end of the day! Thanks Alton.

I used regular flour instead of cake flour and it tasted fine! It has a nice spongey texture and creates a beautiful dark crust which contrasts the very light insides. It looks nice, tastes great, and I'll definitely be making it again. Very easy to do even if you mix by hand!

A family favorite, easy to make and simple to spice up with some fresh whipped cream and berry compote. I haven't bought a pound cake from the store since discovering this recipe!

I LOVE THIS CAKE! ive already made tons of alternate cakes with THIS as the base! I made an almond pound cake for a family friend. It turned out perfect! use almond extract instead of vanilla and add in some roasted finly chopped almods right at the end. Its GREAT!

I'm too broke for a stand mixer, but by melting the butter first it totally becomes a moot point; if you're nice and strong, a regular whisk will do but if not, a hand mixer will work just as well. I loved the flavour of this cake - not that it's really anything other than creamy sugar with a hint of vanilla, but that's a moot point. It's simple and delicious.
