This cake is amazing! I have posted this recipe of Alton Brown's for my many friends on Facebook to read as well as recommending them to this site and link. I make wedding cakes for a living and this is a wonderful cake for eating as well as sculpting. Great tasting alone, with a little butter or covered in my amazing buttercream frosting. Having English parents. I grew up on pound cake and tea and this is certainly up with the best I have ever had. I also loved this show. It was great watching Alton toast a slice in the toaster to eat the "next" morning. My only dissapointment was that the recipe was not included in his Good Eats 2 Book which I just purchased for my husband, an Executive Chef of 25 years.

This was the first cake I have made in my life. I did as told on your TV show and printed the recipe from this site and followed them both reliously. The end result was my very first home made cake that I made all by myself. Not bad for an old baldheaded 68 year man.
PS Oh yeah, I forgot to mention, the cake is delicious!!!!

I was really looking forward to making this recipe. I bake all the time and followed the directions I found elsewhere (because they're not listed here. The result was a very dense and eggy textured cake. Not sure if I did something wrong or if that's how it's supposed to be and I just don't like it. Definitely will try a different recipe - possibly with buttermilk.

I watched this episode with my Grandmother last week and decided to try the recipe as a welcome home treat for my stepfather, who loves pound cake. It was fantastic! The recipe was so easy to follow. I definitely recommend this recipe! I just followed the directions that were in the Citrus Glaze section of this particular episode.

Great pound cake recipe! Really simple; my father and I made it. :
To the people complaining about baking powder: the whole point of the pound cake was that baking powder or a leavening agent was unnecessary. It's not missing.

I made the cake lat night, and it tasted good, but the cake had heavy sections -- the recipes should have included some type of leavening.
