This was easy and very tasty,
It Took about 45 min. to reach 205 degrees.
My daughter is a vegetarian and I'm always looking for good things for her to eat. She loves them!

I love the blend of flavors. I also added oatmeal to this mix. I make these bars weekly. Thanks, AB

These little bars were great! We took them camping and they were a great pick-me-up.

I had watched the episode of Good Eats in which these power bars are featured, and was excited to make them after reading all of the rave reviews they received. Once made, however, they were not very good. They tasted strongly of oats or soy protein flour. Not worth making, although I have not had any commerical protein bars to compare them too. I'd rather try them, though, than eat one of these things again. Don't get me wrong, I love Alton, but this recipe is not a winner. Be wary of all of the good reviews....

mine came out a little too moist, but still good--going to have to measure by weight next time

Very good protein bars. Very moist. Could be a little sweeter, but that is an easy fix. Also, good recipe to add any type of variation you desire.

i loved these. i'm used to the overly sugary, fake-chocolate taste of energy bars (which frankly do nothing more than a poptart could before a 10k, and these were a nice, fruity and real tasting change. i only wish that there was a way to increase the protein without increasing the carbs- that is the one way that some commercial brands exceed these bars.

Once you get over the sticker shock of buying everything for this, you'll love them. My husband is training for a triathlon, and takes some on his long bike rides. I've made these 3 times and change up the dried fruit with different varieties. The recipe is easier each time I make a new batch. Thanks they are wonderful.

I tried a variation these today because I'm looking for a protein snack for a client with a wheat intolerance. I used whey protein powder instead of soy, gluten-free baking mix instead of the whole wheat flour, and Ezekiel 4:9 sprouted grain cereal instead of the wheat germ (she can eat this. I followed Alton and used my remote thermometer to cook it to 205.
They came out with a great texture and are just sweet enough for me. I do wish they had more protein (I might try some more adjustments to get that up, but they are a good snack, and much better for you than those bars with all those funky ingredients.
