This is an amazing dish. I have never had grits or polenta before and I LOVED IT!! I wouldn't change a thing. Alton's THE MAN!!

Excellent and easy. I made it to the letter the first time. The second, I cut the amount of butter in half and it still came out just as great. Thanks Alton!

My first attempt was terific, the only thing I am thinking of adjusting is the amount of salt.

polenta (the Romanians call it mamliga, is almost the "national dish" of Romania. This recipe is, believe it or not, better than my Romanian gramma's recipe! Creamy, delicious! easy to make

With having never eaten grits or polenta in my life, this was a real treat and my family had no trouble polishing off a large pot of them!

Be warned - don't add any salt before tasting first. I added Alton's recommended 1 1/2 teaspoons and had to throw the whole thing out. Shame.

i made this and really didn't like it. it had so much salt that it tasted bad. also i couldn't taste the cheese at all and i found the instruction ambigous. if you make, then use low sodium broth and add no salt!!

This is the second day in a row I have made this for breakfast. Mine was done in 20 minutes, not 40 and taste it before you add any additional salt. I find that the broth made it salty enough to my tastes. Second day I used cheddar cheese, both taste great.

This was my first time ever making polenta. And as usual, Alton Brown came through! We had dinner guests last night and they loved it as well.
Oh, and I even forgot to add the butter and it tasted great. Can't wait to try it again and make it the right way next time. LOL
