The recipe is fine, but it calls for too much baking soda.

This scone recipe by Alton Brown is excellent. Quick and easy to make, they don't have the "heavy" feeling as others do when coming out of the oven. The taste is first rate and when combined with an orange glaze it makes a wonderful change from muffins in the morning. A great family treat!

I love these scones, although I have learned that adding all of the liquid caled for makes the dough way too sticky. I actually use the egg as part of the 3/4 cup. Also, I always have to bake the scones longer than called for in the recipe.

Easy to make, fun to eat. Very good scones for my first try. Next week we try and make gluten-free for my son.

    I used dried blue berries.

Next time I would brush some melted butter on the tops to get them a nice golden brown.

    Thanks Alton!

Excellent, well balanced scones, not too sweet, not too dry. Orange glaze adds a little extra sweetness, lemon can be too sweet.

These were delicious. I split the dough in half and made both plain and raisin variety. My hubby whose had real british scones said they weren't quite right... but I probably just need to work on my technique

I am NOT a scone person. My daughter's school does a tea party and I make them each year.

This recipe had the teachers raving and asking for the recipes. The kids asked for seconds and everyone was very happy.

I added more craisins that suggested and a little extra heaving cream. The results were terrific.

I make these scones at least 3 times a week. You can use almost anything in them dried fruit, nuts or whatever. Blueberries are the favorite where I bake. People who "Don't like scones" fall for these.

This is a great recipe! Much easier than some scone recipes. I added a pinch of cinnamon to mine, using "Craisins" and it turned out great!
