This is a great recipe, the popcorn is dry not sticky and not clumped together just like cracker jacks, though I added the vanilla to the sugar mixture at the end before I poured it on the popcorn and I did not have to put it in the oven, could be a humidity thing. I also added with the vanilla a 1/4 teaspoon of cayanne pepper to the sugar mixture for a slight kick.

I melted 1 1/2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips and poured it over the popcorn after I had broken it up. Everyone loved it.

You do need a large pan to mix it in, I used my large roaster and you must mix fast.

I made this for a teenager gathering movie night and it was a bit hit. No one had ever had "home made" Slacker Jacks. It had been requested a number of nights since.

I used pecans and cashews instead of peanuts and our football friends LOVED it!! I would also recommend using more than a cup of nuts so that you get some in each bite. The carmel is wonderful, thank you.

I've never made any sort of "candy" before, and this was really easy - even without a thermometer! My only complaint is this recipe almost makes too much caramel for that amount of popcorn. It's very sugary sweet. I prefer the pieces that still have a little white peeking through. But other than that, they're great! Will definitely try this again.
