Throw away the biscuit mix, you don't need it anymore. These biscuits are easy to make and come out real light and fluffy.

Wow! I've tried many biscuit recipes with disappointing results. These were moist and delicious!

They rose beautifully and had a nice light texture. I'm overseas and had to use buttermilk solids instead of fresh buttermilk which affected how much liquid I could add, but they came out great. The main thing to remember is to use good baking soda, if your's is too old the biscuits won't rise. I'd recommend to everyone and I won't dare buy refridgerator biscuits again.

This was the first time I've made homemade biscuits, even though I was born and raised in the South! I heard Alton mention the fact that he is from Georgia, and he was joking that a Southern boy can't get good homemade biscuits in New York, where they tape Iron Chef. I went to the Food Network website and searched for homemade biscuits, and I was surprised and pleased when I found Alton's recipe. I never realized how easy it is to make them! The recipe is clear, easy to follow, and I was able to be eating fantastic biscuits in 20 minutes from start to finish! My husband fell in love with me all over again!
