This was my first time to make biscuits on my own - they came out great! Tall, fluffy, comes apart without a knife - reminiscent of my (Southern grandmother's recipe. Definitely my go-to biscuit recipe!!!

Make sure to keep the dough thick when rolled out, they won't puff.

Made these for Christmas dinner, to good reviews. Lots of biscuits are too crumbly, falling apart when you butter them. These were a good texture - crisp on the outside, bread-like on the inside.

FYI, I used a pastry ring size just under 2", and the biscuits were too small. Use a ring size equal to the size you want the final biscuits to be. They rise up, not out, when you bake them!

After several attempts with other receipts, this one did the trick. Great results, easy effort.
