I'm not a huge biscuit person so when I first made these I thought they were good, but I wasn't raving over them or anything. My husband, however, is a HUGE biscuit person, and he can't get enough of these. He asks me to make them all the time. If that doesn't deserve 5 stars I don't know what does.

Despite being from the South. I was not born with the "biscuit" gene, these are easy and foolproof. My husband could not believe I made them : I have even substituted this recipe for Dumplings in my mom's chicken and dumplings recipe. Sorry Mom, but A.B.'s got one over on you here!

I tried to make this for my southern inlaws from mississippi and of all times Alton fail me was then. The biscuits did not rise. They were flat and crunchy the only positive was that they were flavourful

The best thing about these is that it's easy to keep the ingredients on hand so they can be made any time you have a craving for biscuits!
I live in SoCal, so I add 1 tbsp. extra buttermilk, since the air is so dry here. Also, I like to use an egg wash on top for shine. I make double batches and freeze and bag them. They're much better tasting (and better for you! than the store bought whack-a-dough biscuits.

So I made these biscuits today. And Im a bit ambivalent. Did anyone else find the biscuits salty? and floury? Hmmm.. Im what you would call and yankee so I havent ever had REAL southern biscuits so maybe some one can put me in my right place but.. yea.. a lil salty/floury. Any tips? or is that how they are supposed to be. Im looking for a real nice buttery a la KFC biscuit. Yes I know thats probably a sin in the south to strive for fastfood biscuits.. but I think theyre buttery and tasty :p

I have tried to make biscuits with several different recipies and they always turned out dry and hard. These were perfect! Light, fluffy and very easy to make.

These are the only biscuits you ever need to make. Anything from the store, or your grocier's freezer is just a waste of taste...
