Super easy and absolutely delicious. Hubby and I prefer this creamy cheesy texture over a baked version, which always tend to turn out dry for me. I did not add the mustard because we do not like it. This is so creamy and scrumptious! I had it with pulled pork in the crock pot, yum!

really good! the dry mustard is extremely concentrated so i wouldn't go over the recommended amount and i personally would have added more hot sauce. I got the perfect consistency by continuing to stir until all the ingredients were in and hot!

Made it for a friend, so I only took a quick taste to make sure it wasn't "terrible".
Her review:
"It was a bit bland for me, to be honest. Wasn't really getting the 'cheesy' taste. Good texture and otherwise great."

This was a really good, kicked up version of the box stuff. It was creamier than what you get when you bake mac and cheese. I think I still prefer the baked stuff - but it gets dry after one serving. This stuff stays creamy and also heats up well the next day. It's definitely easier to make and I will make it again because it's easy and delicious.

loved this recipe! I tried to make it before and it was so bland. Thanks Alton. I am curious if I could also bake the mac n' cheese using this recipe?

How LFGreene was unable to find this creamy enough is confusing - with all that butter and 6 oz. of evaporate milk, it's creamy enough, unless you heat the cheese mixture at TOO HIGH a heat. Low means LOW. It's only a waste of cheese if you are not familiar with cooking with cheese...Low and Slow, stir constantly. Add a tablespoon more milk at a time if you find the cheese starting to "seize up."

Alton, I have 4 boys, 18,13, and identical 11 yrs . . . I doubled the recipe for dinner tonight and not even one noodle left!!! Served it alongside your meatloaf recipe, a side of roasted acorn squash and even with all that, the Mac disappeared (was hoping for tomorrow nights dinner leftovers, but alas, none to be found of Mac or your meatloaf!. Home run!

Did not like the consistency. Prefer my mac and cheese creamy. Really disappointed - usually Alton's recipes are very good. Lots of wasted cheese.

This was great and extra creamy. I really don't like stove top mac and cheese but I tried it and it was DELICIOUS. I added some bacon bits to mine. YUMMY!!
