It is very easy to put together, and using powdered sugar to roll them out is genius. I think they taste more like shortbread than sugar cookies; Buttery and savory without much sweetness.
I am still searching for a classic sugar cookie recipe, but I will make this again and again.

This sugar cookie recipe is the best I've tried yet. It is easy and it handles very well. And on top of all that they taste delicious even without the icing. Thanks!

These tasted pretty good, they werent too sweet, I thought maybe adding some orange zest next time might highten the flavor. The only thing i didnt like was i thought the dough was too wet to cut into shapes, even after i refrigerated it. I ended up having to make them just plain old round cookies because the shapes were not happening. Other than that, they were pretty good, but i'll probably try other recipes before i decide on a favorite.

These cookies turned out great! They are not too sweat and a wonderful buttery taste and crumbly texture... just like the really expensive cookies from a Viennese bakery around the corner from me.

I just completed a batch of these sugar cookies with my granddaughter for an Easter treat. The cookies are not overly sweet, held their shape well, and are nicely crisp. After preparing the batter, I divided it in to two portions and added one portion back to mixing bowl along with a dab of paste food coloring (pink to blend it in. The second batch got a dab of violet coloring. After refrigeration time, I rolled them out, using the powdered sugar, cut with bunnie cutter and added mini candy eyes and a sprinkle of sanding sugar. Natasha was mightly impressed and enjoyed the task of sprinkling on the sugar. My cookies took 10 min. instead of the suggested 9. Will certainly keep the recipe on hand. Thanks, Alton. You are a regular in our kitchen! Son in law especially enjoys your show.

This was a great because it was not too sweet before frosting the cookies.

Alton Brown is my hero. I've tried at least half a dozen different recipes in years past, but this is the only one that's memorable. I made a bunch for friends for Valentines Day. Some told me that they were so good I should sell them.

I added a tsp of vanilla to the mix, and also used a 50-50 10x sugar and flour mix when rolling it out. I baked them on parchment paper - not a single cookie got stuck or broke. I iced them with a basic 10x sugar, milk, & vanilla icing. They were exceptionally great!
